Teen found dead with ear­phones on

ME­LAKA: A teenage boy, who slept with ear­phones on while it was con­nected to his charg­ing mo­bile phone, was found dead at his bed­room in Ta­man Mer­bok, Bukit Baru, here.

The vic­tim was iden­ti­fied as Syamirul Ar­mizie Ade­nan, 19, who is un­em­ployed.

State Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tion Depart­ment chief As­sis­tant Com­mis­sioner Ka­malud­din Kas­sim said Syamirul’s mother, 48, a nurse, went to wake him up at 7am on Fri­day.

“Not get­ting any re­sponse, the mother used a du­pli­cate key to open her son’s bed­room door and found him mo­tion­less on his bed.

“The vic­tim had ear­phones on, which were con­nected to a mo­bile phone that was con­nected to a power bank.”

Ka­malud­din said there were burn in­juries on Syamirul’s left shoul­der near where the power bank was placed.

“The mother tried to wake him up, but the vic­tim did not re­spond. She lodged a re­port at the Bukit Baru po­lice sta­tion at 8.10am on Fri­day.”

He said the vic­tim’s body was sent to Me­laka Hos­pi­tal and the case was clas­si­fied as sud­den death.

Syamirul was last seen en­ter­ing his bed­room on Thurs­day at 10pm.
