Food-loving couple manufactures cheesy kuih
KANGAR: For 11 years, Dzulfadli Ellias worked hard and only earned up to RM5,000 a month from managing a restaurant here in town.
Three years ago, the 35-yearold tied the knot with Nurul Najwa Shafaruddin, who shares his passion for cooking. Soon after, Dzulfadli realised he needed to do more to provide for his family.
Both Dzulfadli and Najwa, 26, had ambitions, but never in their wildest dreams had they thought that one day they would own a food processing factory and sell their own products.
Better still, the business pulls in up to RM20,000 in monthly revenue.
Their success story began in 2014, when upon experimenting with new kuih recipes, Dzulfadli and Najwa tried their hands at creating “cheese curry puffs”.
“Both of us love cooking and making pastries. Najwa is the one especially adept at making kuih. She would sometimes make curry puffs for catering just to earn a side income,” said Dzulfadli when met at the Small and Mediumsized Entreprises Week 2017 at Giant Hypermarket on Friday.
