A BYPASS to the Sprint Highway from the Rothman’s junction in Petaling Jaya, which was built about 10 months ago, is impassable as it is blocked by plastic barricades.

However, some motorists, who had been anticipating to ply the road as an alternative route, went ahead despite the absence of road signs and streetlights.

“The road looks ready for use but it is blocked by plastic barricades.

“Some motorists are taking a detour into our neighbourhood to use it.

“We see cars driving on the wrong side of the bypass trying to get to the Rothman’s junction from Section 17, near the Sprint Highway, as the lane there is also blocked midway by plastic barricades,” said Jarred Lim from Section 19.

In February, Petaling Jaya City Council engineering director Ismail Shafie told Actionline that the bypass would be open to the public in March.

He said contractors had yet to install guard rails, street and traffic lights.

However, the bypass has yet to be opened until today.

The bypass to the Sprint Highway, which is cordoned off by plastic barricades (inset), is used by some motorists to take detours through neighbourhoods.
