9 MRSM Alor Gajah students expelled
KUALA LUMPUR: Nine students from Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) Alor Gajah who were involved in the bullying case of a 14-year-old student have been expelled.
The May 6 incident was reported in the New Straits Times on May 19, which saw the victim’s mother turning to the media after failing to get the boarding school’s management to act on the matter.
Mara deputy director-general (education) Mohamed Roseli Dol said the decision to expel the students was taken after a meeting with the Mara Secondary Education Division Discipline Committee.
“At the meeting, we decided that the eight Form Three students and one Form Four student would be expelled with immediate effect. As soon as the MRSM Alor Gajah management was notified, the warden and teachers visited the area where the incident took place to investigate.”
Roseli said Mara would not tolerate any wrongdoing by its students under any circumstances and would work with related parties, including the police, to assist in investigations.
