Cop hurt in high-speed chase in Puchong
KUALA LUMPUR: A lance corporal sustained severe injuries when he was involved in an accident following a high-speed chase yesterday.
Lance Corporal Mohd Ridzuan Harun was doing his rounds with his partner when they encountered a man on a motorcycle behaving suspiciously in Jalan Persiaran Tasik Prima, Puchong, at 1.10am.
Subang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohammad Azlin Sadari said Ridzuan approached the man for inspection but the man sped off, prompting police to give chase.
The chase went on for 5km and Ridzuan’s partner, a corporal later spotted his colleague lying near his motorcycle on the road.
The suspect’s motorcycle was lying by the roadside but he was nowhere to be seen.
“It is not known whether Ridzuan was injured in a scuffle, or if he fell while chasing the man as there were no witnesses.
“Ridzuan sustained injuries to the face, a fractured skull and internal bleeding.”
Ridzuan, attached to the Bukit Puchong police station, is in critical condition and warded at Serdang Hospital.
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect.
