Cop hurt in high-speed chase in Pu­chong

KUALA LUMPUR: A lance cor­po­ral sus­tained se­vere in­juries when he was in­volved in an ac­ci­dent fol­low­ing a high-speed chase yes­ter­day.

Lance Cor­po­ral Mohd Ridzuan Harun was do­ing his rounds with his part­ner when they en­coun­tered a man on a mo­tor­cy­cle be­hav­ing sus­pi­ciously in Jalan Per­siaran Tasik Prima, Pu­chong, at 1.10am.

Subang Jaya po­lice chief As­sis­tant Com­mis­sioner Mo­ham­mad Azlin Sadari said Ridzuan ap­proached the man for in­spec­tion but the man sped off, prompt­ing po­lice to give chase.

The chase went on for 5km and Ridzuan’s part­ner, a cor­po­ral later spot­ted his col­league ly­ing near his mo­tor­cy­cle on the road.

The sus­pect’s mo­tor­cy­cle was ly­ing by the road­side but he was nowhere to be seen.

“It is not known whether Ridzuan was in­jured in a scuf­fle, or if he fell while chas­ing the man as there were no wit­nesses.

“Ridzuan sus­tained in­juries to the face, a frac­tured skull and in­ter­nal bleed­ing.”

Ridzuan, at­tached to the Bukit Pu­chong po­lice sta­tion, is in crit­i­cal con­di­tion and warded at Ser­dang Hos­pi­tal.

Po­lice have launched a man­hunt for the sus­pect.
