Media Prima appoints Ismee as director
KUALA LUMPUR: Media Prima Bhd has appointed Tan Sri Ismee Ismail as its independent non-executive director effective June 1.
Ismee, 52, is TV AlHijrah chairman and TH Plantations Bhd deputy chairman.
Media Prima group chairman Datuk Seri F D Iskandar said the appointment reflected Media Prima’s commitment towards implementing strategic actions to further consolidate the group’s position as the leading integrated media group in Malaysia.
“Ismee is a highly respected figure in corporate Malaysia and brings with him a wealth of experience in the field of finance, banking and business, and will contribute greatly towards delivering value to its shareholders.
“On behalf of the board of Media Prima, we wish to welcome Tan Sri Ismee to the group.”
Ismee was formerly Lembaga Tabung Haji group managing director and chief executive officer from 2006 to 2016. He began his career as a management accountant at Arab Malaysian Development Bhd and later served in key leadership positions with Shell Group of Companies in Malaysia, including as head of forex and banking at Shell Malaysia Ltd and group accountant at Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd.
He was also involved in the setting up of Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Bhd and served as its chief accountant/treasurer and later joined Medical Online (M) Sdn Bhd as senior vice-president.
Ismee had also served on the boards of key business institutions in Malaysia, including as chairman of Syarikat Takaful Malaysia from 2009 to 2015 and board member of Johor Corp, KFC Holdings Malaysia Bhd and 1Malaysia Development Bhd.
Others include BIMB Holdings Bhd, Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd, Pelikan International Corp Bhd, Felda Global Ventures Bhd and several other private companies.
He obtained his Chartered Institute of Management Accountants qualification from the London School of Accountancy, where he is a fellow.
