Me­dia Prima ap­points Is­mee as di­rec­tor

KUALA LUMPUR: Me­dia Prima Bhd has ap­pointed Tan Sri Is­mee Is­mail as its in­de­pen­dent non-ex­ec­u­tive di­rec­tor ef­fec­tive June 1.

Is­mee, 52, is TV AlHi­jrah chair­man and TH Plan­ta­tions Bhd deputy chair­man.

Me­dia Prima group chair­man Datuk Seri F D Iskan­dar said the ap­point­ment re­flected Me­dia Prima’s com­mit­ment to­wards im­ple­ment­ing strate­gic ac­tions to fur­ther con­sol­i­date the group’s po­si­tion as the lead­ing in­te­grated me­dia group in Malaysia.

“Is­mee is a highly re­spected fig­ure in cor­po­rate Malaysia and brings with him a wealth of ex­pe­ri­ence in the field of fi­nance, bank­ing and busi­ness, and will con­trib­ute greatly to­wards de­liv­er­ing value to its share­hold­ers.

“On be­half of the board of Me­dia Prima, we wish to wel­come Tan Sri Is­mee to the group.”

Is­mee was for­merly Lem­baga Tabung Haji group man­ag­ing di­rec­tor and chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer from 2006 to 2016. He be­gan his ca­reer as a man­age­ment ac­coun­tant at Arab Malaysian De­vel­op­ment Bhd and later served in key lead­er­ship po­si­tions with Shell Group of Com­pa­nies in Malaysia, in­clud­ing as head of forex and bank­ing at Shell Malaysia Ltd and group ac­coun­tant at Shell Malaysia Trad­ing Sdn Bhd.

He was also in­volved in the set­ting up of Pen­gu­ru­san Dana­harta Na­sional Bhd and served as its chief ac­coun­tant/trea­surer and later joined Medical On­line (M) Sdn Bhd as se­nior vice-pres­i­dent.

Is­mee had also served on the boards of key busi­ness in­sti­tu­tions in Malaysia, in­clud­ing as chair­man of Syarikat Taka­ful Malaysia from 2009 to 2015 and board mem­ber of Jo­hor Corp, KFC Hold­ings Malaysia Bhd and 1Malaysia De­vel­op­ment Bhd.

Oth­ers in­clude BIMB Hold­ings Bhd, Bank Is­lam Malaysia Bhd, Pe­likan In­ter­na­tional Corp Bhd, Felda Global Ven­tures Bhd and sev­eral other pri­vate com­pa­nies.

He ob­tained his Char­tered In­sti­tute of Man­age­ment Ac­coun­tants qualification from the London School of Ac­coun­tancy, where he is a fel­low.

Tan Sri Is­mee Is­mail has vast ex­pe­ri­ence in the field of fi­nance, bank­ing and busi­ness.
