SHAH ALAM: The Barisan Nasional election machinery will set up 3,500 polling district centres and branch operation rooms in Selangor ahead of the 14th General Election.

Selangor BN liaison committee deputy chairman Datuk Mat Nadzari Ahmad Dahlan said Umno, MCA and MIC would work together.

This, he said, was a move to streamline the coalition’s resources and better manage its manpower in a bid to wrest back Selangor.

Nadzari said they had instructed 42 state BN constituency coordinators to prepare their main operation rooms since March.

“Yesterday (Sunday), Selangor BN had instructed all component parties to set up their operation rooms at grassroots level, which is in their respective polling district centre by next month.

“Umno will have 2,400 operations rooms, over a 1,000 for MCA and about 1,160 for MIC.

“Their role is to organise the structure of the election machinery and engage BN supporters.”

Meanwhile, Selangor MCA secretary Datuk Ng Chok Sin said the party’s grassroots leaders nationwide had been mobilised to meet people ahead of the general election.

“All our grassroots leaders throughout Malaysia are going to the ground to listen to issues raised by the people and resolve them.

“At the state level, we are in regular contact with the party’s headquarters on MCA’s position on any arising issues,” he told the New Straits Times.
