SHARES on Bursa Malaysia ended in the neg­a­tive ter­ri­tory, weighed down by losses in key heavy­weights and weaker buy­ing sup­port across-the-board.

The key in­dex ended at its low­est for the day at 1,764.89, down 7.41 points from Fri­day’s 1,772.3.

On the broader mar­ket, losers thumped gain­ers 688 to 224, with 345 coun­ters un­changed, 525 un­traded and 52 oth­ers sus­pended. Vol­ume de­creased to 2.31 bil­lion units val­ued at RM1.86 bil­lion, from 2.86 bil­lion units val­ued at RM2.61 bil­lion on Fri­day.

Among heavy­weights, May­bank and Sime Darby were flat at RM9.40 and RM9.33, re­spec­tively, while TNB de­creased eight sen to RM13.72, Pub­lic Bank de­clined six sen to RM20.02 and Petronas Chem­i­cals was 15 sen weaker at RM7.25. Ber­nama
