KUALA LUMPUR: Fleet management company Spanco Sdn Bhd has delivered four lead Proton Preve 1.6 sedans to the Prisons Department.

These vehicles will be used by the Kajang, Sungai Buloh, Seberang Perai and Kota Kinabalu prisons.

The new Preve 1.6 replaced the old fleet of Proton Waja used by the prisons, said Spanco in a statement.

Spanco chief executive officer Datuk Hamzah Mohd Salleh presented the cars to the commissioner general of Prisons Datuk Seri Zulkifli Omar at a ceremony recently.

Hamzah said the cars had been upgraded to enhance the department’s image and efficiency.

The Preves are equipped with slimmer and brighter integrated light sound system as well as improved loud speaker and siren, compared with the previous models.

They would be used to escort prisoners, especially those with high profile cases, to hospitals or courts throughout the country, he added.
