A pic­ture taken on July 3, 1957, show­ing a man and a woman cy­cling past a 105 Field Bat­tery, Royal Australian Ar­tillery gun po­si­tion, which is stand­ing in readi­ness to sup­port the Royal Australian Reg­i­ment Bat­tal­ion 2 in Kedah. The bat­tal­ion came into con­tact with a large group of com­mu­nist ter­ror­ists in the area. Australia sent troops to help its South­east Asia Col­lec­tive De­fence Treaty (Seato) ally to op­pose fur­ther com­mu­nist gains in the re­gion. The first group of Australian troops ar­rived in Malaya in 1955.
