New Straits Times - - Sport -

NATIONAL lawn bowler Siti Zalina Ahmad is ready take on her Sea Games rivals on the new artificial greens at the Bukit Kiara Sports Complex.

Siti Zalina, who will be competing in the women’s pairs alongside Auni Fathiah Khamis, said her team have been training on the greens for the last one month.

“As a player, any surface is a challenge... it is important to adapt quickly.

“At the moment, I have good form and consistency,” said Zalina yesterday.

“If you compare the greens from during the pre-Sea games and now, there are some differences. It is smoother and faster now... this is good for us.”

Having tasted success at the World Championship and the Commonwealth Games, Zalina stressed that she is hoping to contribute a medal to the nation’s tally having failed to do so in the 2001 KL edition.

The last time lawn bowls was included in the Sea Games was the 2007 Korat edition.

Zalina’s last title at the Sea Games was in the 1999 Brunei edition where she emerged victorious in the singles. Jumiati Rosly
