Liow: RM110 mil­lion in Awas fines col­lected

THE Au­to­mated Aware­ness Safety Sys­tem (Awas) col­lected more than RM100 mil­lion in fines un­til June.

Trans­port Min­is­ter Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, in a par­lia­men­tary re­ply, said there were 21 Awas cam­eras na­tion­wide.

“Up to June 2017, the to­tal Awas fines col­lected amounted to RM110,938,770.

“There are 21 Awas cam­eras op­er­at­ing in eight lo­ca­tions in Perak, two in Se­lan­gor, three in Kuala Lumpur, two in Pu­tra­jaya, two in Jo­hor, one in Ke­lan­tan, one in Kedah and two in Tereng­ganu,” he said.

Liow was re­spond­ing to a ques­tion from Teo Kok Seong (DAPRasah), who had asked about the num­ber of Awas cam­eras na­tion­wide, the cost of in­stal­la­tion and the to­tal fines col­lected.
