TEEN SISTERS ALLEGEDLY RAPED BY KIN

They claim they were raped by their father, grandfather and 2 uncles

TWO teenage sisters are claiming that their father, grandfather and two uncles have been raping them for six years. The sisters, aged 19 and 14, are from Kampung Daha Seroban in Serian, Sarawak.

The case came to light when Serian Hospital informed police about a pregnancy case involving a 19-year-old girl.

When she was quizzed, the girl alleged that she had been repeatedly raped by four family members since she was 13. She also claimed that her younger sister had been raped since she was 9.

She said the rapes took place in the family home, which they shared with their male relatives.

State Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Dev Kumar said the suspects, aged between 57 and 26, were arrested at Kampung Daha Seroban at 3.30pm yesterday. He said the men were expected to be remanded at the magistrate’s court here.

The case is being investigated under Section 376B of the Penal Code for statutory rape, which carries a maximum 30 years’ jail sentence and caning, upon conviction. This is the second such case in Sarawak in recent weeks involving rape by multiple family members.
