KL Sea Games gets a re­brand

THE Kuala Lumpur Sea Games 2017 has been of­fi­cially re­branded as Kuala Lumpur 2017 (KL2017) to hype up the games which kick off in just un­der a week.

Deputy Sports Min­is­ter Datuk M. Sar­a­vanan said the KL2017 name also cov­ers the Asean Para Games which will be held in KL two weeks af­ter the Sea Games ends.

“The min­istry has con­ducted var­i­ous ac­tiv­i­ties to pro­mote the bi­en­nial games such as the Torch Run across the coun­try,” said Sar­a­vanan, at the sign­ing cer­e­mony for sil­ver and bronze spon­sors for KL2017 in Putrajaya yes­ter­day.

Sar­a­vanan said he was pleased with the pos­i­tive sup­port KL2017 has re­ceived from the pri­vate sec­tor.

“We have also re­ceived a lot of spon­sor­ship from lo­cal and for­eign com­pa­nies to en­sure the games will run smoothly.

“To date we have re­ceived close to RM100 mil­lion in spon­sor­ship which has ex­ceeded our tar­get.

AEON, one of four sil­ver spon­sors, will con­trib­ute RM3 mil­lion while Molten (Asia Pa­cific), Mikasa (Sun­rise & Co), Vic­tor, Marathon, Dou­ble Hap­pi­ness, Nit­taku, Maxwin (Per­fect Companion), Medil­ife, Glo­ria Jeans, Wi­raka, Sun­star, La Martina, Malaysian Re­sources Cor­po­ra­tion Ber­had (MRCB), Maju Group, Maha Mas, Ot­to­bock, JVC Ken­wood (Mal-Tel Com­mu­ni­ca­tion) and Trybes are bronze spon­sors.
