FMM thanks govt for agreeing to review EIS
KUALA LUMPUR: The Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) has expressed its gratitude to the government for agreeing to review the Employment Insurance System Bill (EIS).
In a statement, the organisation said FMM’s concerns on the EIS were highlighted in a meeting with four ministers.
It had also received the assurance from these ministers that stakeholders would be consulted again on the bill before it is retabled in Parliament.
“FMM’s concerns and recommendations on the EIS were submitted in writing immediately after the meeting with the ministers.
“The submission covered seven basic principles in the relevant provisions, a list of 15 provisions which should be strengthened and/or reviewed for greater transparency and consistency, and a list of seven provisions requiring further clarification and/or confirmation,” the statement read.
At the same time, the organisation said that it was seeking a meeting with Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem for discussion on EIS and other human resources-related issues concerning the manufacturing sector.
