SPECIAL VW MODELS TO MARK MERDEKA
JETTA ALLSTAR AND MERDEKA BEETLE
VOLKSWAGEN Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) launched two special models at its inaugural Volkswagen Fest 2017 at the Setia City Convention Centre.
Billed as a celebration of all things Volkswagen, the event began on Friday and ends today.
“Volkswagen cars are better experienced than explained, and with all the test drive activities, amazing offers and plenty of family fun, the Volkswagen Fest is one of the best platforms we can provide for members of the public to be able to enjoy this,” said VPCM managing director Erik Winter.
“What’s more, the Volkswagen Fest is where the public is able to view the Jetta ALLSTAR and the 60th Merdekaedition Beetle for the first time,” he added.
The Jetta ALLSTAR, priced from RM109,990, is the latest VW model to wear the ALLSTAR badge, following the Polo ALLSTAR that was released earlier this year
and the Vento ALLSTAR launched in June.
The ALLSTAR variants are targeted at customers who want a dash of individuality.
“The range was developed specifically for discerning customers who wish to stand out from the crowd,” said VPCM.
Under the hood of the Jetta ALLSTAR is a new-generation, 1.4L TSI singleturbocharged engine with an improved seven-speed direct shift gearbox (DSG) delivering 148hp and a torque of 250Nm at between 1,500rpm and 3,500rpm.
It can accelerate from zero to 100kph in 8.6 seconds but has a combined fuel consumption of approximately 5.0l/100 km.
The Jetta ALLSTAR comes with RM3,000 worth of exclusive accessories such as aluminium sports pedals, rear trunk spoiler, “ALLSTAR” scuff plates, emblems and carpet mats. It comes in four colours - Candy White, Platinum Grey, Reflex Silver and Deep Black.
At the event, a charming new addition to the VW lineup, in the form of a Merdeka Beetle, was also unveiled.
The 60th Merdeka Edition Beetle is painted in livery, with the number “60” on its hood and sides.
Priced at RM136,888, it is limited to just 16 units nationwide, and is available in a choice of Pure White or White Silver.
Upgrades in the special edition Beetle include a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel and seat trim covers in “Pepita” fabric, a 5.8-inch Touchscreen “Composition Colour” with USB, bluetooth and eight speakers.
Under the hood is a 1.2l turbocharged TSI engine churning out a maximum 103hp and 175Nm, mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission DSG.
All 16 units come with five-year warranty, 60-month road tax, and a limited edition Beetle suitcase.
