FADHLI ISHAK AND FARAH AZHARIE nstsport@nst.com.my those of the first race in 1999, then as a fan.

“We, Malaysians, had waited for so long for this event to come to Malaysia and it was finally here (in 1999).

“I watched from the main grandstand and ran across the track to get closer to the cars after the race during the podium ceremony.”

“As a CEO, my best memory would be in my first year in 2009 when the race was aborted due to heavy rain.

“It became a spectacle and although it was not the ideal outcome - for me, it was the best as it was the first (edition) with incidents.

“During other (earlier) years, the event ran quite smoothly from a promoter and organiser’s perspective.”

Ticket prices range from RM58.68 (K2 hillstand) to RM336.18 (main granstand) for MyKad holders, inclusive of GST. Tickets for the Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull Racing tribunes have all been sold out.

Meanwhile, Razlan congratulated Hafizh Syahrin for his third place podium finish in the San Marino GP on Sunday.

The 23-year-old has put his career on the right track following the Sepang International Circuit’s (SIC) announcement of a plan to form a team for the MotoGP World Championship by 2019.

And SIC aim to start competing in the intermediate class by next year with Hafizh’s name thrown in the mix.

Razlan said much of Hafizh’s success was due to his clear mind with his next year’s plans settled, and he can now focus on the remaining rounds for the year.

“He will be gunning for a podium finish at his home Grand Prix next month.”

For those who have yet to come to Sepang and watch the F1 Malaysia GP, this is definitely the final chance
