3 killed in Sarawak crash

MIRI: Two Chi­nese na­tion­als were killed and an­other was badly in­jured in a road ac­ci­dent in Jalan Bin­tulu-Tatau yes­ter­day that also took the life of the driver of the four-wheel-drive ve­hi­cle they were trav­el­ling in.

Zhao Shugang, 51, and Hao Ping, 44, died in the ac­ci­dent in­volv­ing their Hilux ve­hi­cle and a trailer lorry along the Bin­tulu-Tatau Road at 7.40 am, said Bin­tulu Po­lice chief ACP Zailanni Amit.

The in­jured pas­sen­ger of the ve­hi­cle was Tang Ding­ping, 43, while the Malaysian driver, who was also killed, was Kong Tze Hua, 57, he said in a state­ment.

Zailanni said the 44-year-old driver of the trailer lorry was un­hurt and had been de­tained to help in the in­ves­ti­ga­tion into the ac­ci­dent.

He said the lorry was head­ing from Sibu to Bin­tulu and the Hilux was go­ing in the other di­rec­tion when the ac­ci­dent hap­pened. Ber­nama
