Amsyar seeks confidence boost in Bukit Jalil
OLYMPIAN Ahmad Amsyar Azman is focused on doing well in the Malaysia leg of the Diving Grand Prix, which starts on Oct 26, in Bukit Jalil.
Amsyar is using the tournament to prepare for next year’s Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and Indonesia Asian Games.
The Perlis-born believes national coach Yang Zhuliang can turn him into a world class diver as the China-born trainer has a systematic training programme.
“I want to do my best in the Malaysia leg as it will give me the confidence for bigger competitions. It would be great if I can win a gold medal.
“Zhuliang is like a father to me and I see him as one of the best coaches in the world,” said Amsyar, a silver medallist at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.
The Diving Grand Prix in Malaysia will be the divers’ first competition after the Sea Games. The 25-year-old Amsyar won two gold and one silver at the biennial games. Aida Adilah Mat
