A SHOWCASE OF GOVT'S INFRASTRUCTURE PLANS
Event showcases govt’s plans to improve lives of Malaysians
THE doors will be opened for the public to experience topnotch Malaysian infrastructure and facilities at Expo Negaraku at Dataran Merdeka here today.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan said the exhibition was a platform to showcase the government’s plans to improve the lives of Malaysians, especially through current and upcoming projects.
“This expo is inspired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who wanted an interactive and digital expo to attract Malaysians and introduce to them infrastructure that has been, and will be implemented in the country,” he said.
He said some 500,000 people were expected attend the expo, which would also highlight the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) to the people, and raise awareness of the EPU’s role in development projects.
Rahman said the expo would be divided into five domes, with each carrying its own exhibition theme: shared fortune, infrastructure facilities, life and wellbeing, Malaysian lifestyle and brilliant future.
Highlights include interactive displays, including an airport terminal equipped with an air traffic control section for visitors to experience directing air traffic.
There are virtual train rides, he said, where riders could jump on the Light Transit Rail, Keretapi Tanah Melayu and Mass Rapid Transit.
For the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR), scenic views will greet “commuters”.
Rahman said people could take in the views of Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi, Kedah, as well as the North-South Expressway at the Malaysian Lifestyle dome.
The final dome was a futuristic one, he said, where visitors could immerse themselves in a 360° display of the future, which included Bandar Malaysia, Malaysia Vision Valley and MyHSR.
“We have musical performances, food trucks and sporting activities for visitors.
“Due to the limited parking space, visitors are encouraged to use public transportation.
“Those using Grab will get a RM5 discount for each trip to and from the expo.”
The month-long expo, which is organised by the Prime Minister’s Department, will run from today to Dec 15, and it is free of charge.
It is open from 10am to 10pm. During the event, Jalan Raja at Dataran Merdeka will be closed for a month to ensure a smooth traffic flow for visitors.
