TAN Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has admitted that he signed the approval letter for the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) in 2006.

The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) president, however, said he could not remember whether he received updates on the project after that.

“I cannot remember. It’s been too long.”

Muhyiddin said this when he was asked about the matter outside the PPBM headquarters yesterday.

He was the agriculture minister when the approval letter was signed.

He said even though he signed the document, allocations for NFC were not channelled through his ministry.

On Tuesday, Special Affairs Department director-general Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi was quoted as saying that Muhyiddin could not remain silent on the NFC issue as he was the minister then and should be in the know of the issue.

He had said Muhyiddin was evasive in clarifying the issue to avoid embarrassing the opposition of which he was a part.

Puad had challenged DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang to urge Muhyiddin to clarify the issue, which the latter had demanded in the past when he called Muhyiddin to face the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee.
