ANWAR THANKS EX-UK PM FOR SUPPORT
Cameron had raised Anwar’s jailing, prison treatment with Malaysian officials
DATUK Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday shared a photo taken with former British prime minister David Cameron. In a tweet, the PKR de facto leader said he thanked Cameron for raising the issues of his incarceration and treatment in prison on several occasions with Malaysian officials.
Anwar said he listened to Cameron’s views on key issues to consider in formulating a successful transition.
“Also reiterated our expectation that investigators around the world assist with investigations into the dubious deals of 1Malaysia Development Bhd so that we can return to Malaysians what is rightfully theirs,” Anwar posted on his Twitter account, @anwaribrahim.
Anwar, husband of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, had his first public event organised by the Doughty Street International in the United Kingdom following his release from prison last month.
At the event, he spoke to lawyers, activists and community leaders on “miscarriages of justice and the rule of law in Malaysia”.
