Cameron had raised An­war’s jail­ing, prison treat­ment with Malaysian of­fi­cials

DATUK Seri An­war Ibrahim yes­ter­day shared a photo taken with for­mer Bri­tish prime min­is­ter David Cameron. In a tweet, the PKR de facto leader said he thanked Cameron for rais­ing the is­sues of his in­car­cer­a­tion and treat­ment in prison on sev­eral oc­ca­sions with Malaysian of­fi­cials.

An­war said he lis­tened to Cameron’s views on key is­sues to con­sider in for­mu­lat­ing a suc­cess­ful tran­si­tion.

“Also re­it­er­ated our ex­pec­ta­tion that in­ves­ti­ga­tors around the world as­sist with in­ves­ti­ga­tions into the du­bi­ous deals of 1Malaysia Devel­op­ment Bhd so that we can re­turn to Malaysians what is right­fully theirs,” An­war posted on his Twit­ter ac­count, @an­wari­brahim.

An­war, hus­band of Deputy Prime Min­is­ter Datuk Seri Dr Wan Az­izah Wan Is­mail, had his first pub­lic event or­gan­ised by the Doughty Street In­ter­na­tional in the United King­dom fol­low­ing his re­lease from prison last month.

At the event, he spoke to lawyers, ac­tivists and com­mu­nity lead­ers on “mis­car­riages of jus­tice and the rule of law in Malaysia”.
