4 youths killed, 1 hurt in road crash

SHAH ALAM: Four youths were killed and one in­jured when their car, whose driver is be­lieved to have been drunk, skid­ded to the side of the road and smashed into a tree in Per­siaran Se­tia Alam here yes­ter­day.

The dead were iden­ti­fied as N. Zed Hezron, 18; M. Sash­win, 18; M. Kavi­ne­shan, 19; and, the driver, K. Gopalakr­ish­nan, 20.

All four were killed at the scene in the 1.14am ac­ci­dent.

M. Roshan, 19, the fifth oc­cu­pant of the sedan (which was head­ing from the toll plaza to Jalan Meru), suf­fered se­vere in­juries and was rushed to Tengku Am­puan Rahimah Hospi­tal in Klang.

It is learnt that the five in­cluded two sib­lings and their cousin.

Ac­cord­ing to Shah Alam dis­trict po­lice chief As­sis­tant Com­mis­sioner Ba­harud­din Mat Taib, res­cuers had to ex­tri­cate the vic­tims from the wreckage.

The four bod­ies were sent to Shah Alam Hospi­tal for post­mortems.

The case is be­ing in­ves­ti­gated un­der Sec­tion 41(1) of the Road Trans­port Act 1987.
