‘No po­si­tion or spe­cial role for Tok Pa in PPBM’

KOTA BARU: Jeli mem­ber of par­li­ment Datuk Seri Mustapa Mo­hamed, who joined Parti Pribumi Ber­satu Malaysia (PPBM), will not be given any high po­si­tion or spe­cial role in the party.

Prime Min­is­ter Tun Dr Ma­hathir Mo­hamad said Umno lead­ers who joined PPBM would not be given po­si­tions.

“For how long (the per­son will not be given a po­si­tion), we will see. We (PPBM) ac­cepted him be­cause he is ca­pa­ble,” he said af­ter at­tend­ing a gather­ing with Pakatan Hara­pan lead­ers here yes­ter­day.

Mustapa, known as Tok Pa, joined PPBM af­ter he left Umno on Sept 18. He handed over his ap­pli­ca­tion form to Dr Ma­hathir, who is PPBM chair­man, re­cently.

Com­ment­ing on his state­ment that Umno should be dis­solved, Dr Ma­hathir said he told Umno pres­i­dent Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi that its mem­bers would prob­a­bly leave the party.

“I also told him if Umno mem­bers choose to join other par­ties in the govern­ment, they must sup­port PH be­fore a de­ci­sion is made.”
