Sarawak PKR claims sabotage

LAWAS: Sarawak PKR will lodge a report with the Malaysian AntiCorruption Commission over alleged abuse of power by outsiders to derail its Lawas branch polls yesterday.

Sarawak PKR chairman Baru Bian said the branch’s management was notified at 11.30pm yesterday that permission to use the Lawas Indoor Stadium had been withdrawn, which almost disrupted the polls.

“We were told that in our application to the stadium’s management and local authorities, we had stated that it was for a thanksgiving function and not for political purposes,” he said.

Bian, who won the division’s top post unopposed, denied the claim, adding that all laws and bylaws were followed.

He said the instruction to withdraw the approval to use the facility was made by a senior state government official.
