EDITOR’S LETTER

Prestige (Malaysia) - - Contents - |

The only oTher Time I had witnessed a massive queue this long outside the Kinokuniya bookstore was what seems like a lifetime ago during the release of the HarryPotter series. And people say Malaysians don’t read. But if you’ve been planning to go on that social media detox and actually pick up a book to read for a change, then the Billion Dollar Whale book penned by

Wall Street Journal journalists Tom Wright and Bradley Hope should be in your reading list.

With first edition copies sold out nationwide (and the PDF version distributed widely through Whatsapp and social media), it comes as no surprise that Tom’s recent visit to Malaysia warranted a long snaking queue for many who were eager to get their hands on an autographed copy. Prestige was there right in the thick of it, alongside prominent politicians and ex-ministers who had turned up in full force. Scandal and reading resolutions aside, it is imperative we take this as a lesson for the next generation and future generations to come. To quote Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz, “It is so important that what we read in the book and other things that we know about taught (us) a lesson not about leaders but about leadership.”

Speaking of leaders, our October 2018 cover personality Robbie Antonio is raring to go, a dark horse rising through the competitive real estate landscape. Armed with a natural flair for entrepreneurship and inherent thirst for success, Robbie is certain of what he wants in life and “it has to be right and it has to be fast.” As the saying goes, opportunity waits for no one.

Enjoy,
