WHY GO

-

A fine slice of French is to be found in idyllic Ipoh, for this restaurant positively oozes exquisite French cuisine and service par excellence.

Lunch hours consist of only one menu, and that is a six-course degustation menu with or without wine pairing.

Starter highlights include the signature foie gra which is cooked to perfection. The instant smoked chicken, crusted ‘black truffle’ with lobster bisque and poutargue is excellent as the chicken is cooked to a tenderness that’s hard to replicate, complemented with the tasty black truffle crust and the flavour-enhancing lobster bisque.

The main course is a deconstructed baked potato with parmesan-crusted, slow-cooked fish of the day with saffron beurre blanc sauce. On this visit, grouper is the fish of the day, and its cut is thick and the texture, meaty, making it a hardy main course. The parmesan crust adds a nice flavour with the butter sauce, and the flanking potato resembles a unique and tasty take on a simple provincial dish.

Dessert is a pistachio parfait with honey citrus jackfruit filling and intense chocolate ice cream. The jackfruit filling is very inventive and is the star of the dessert.
