80 volunteers repair houses in three villages
DENGKEL (Selangor): A total of 80 volunteers from the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) of the Prime Minister's Department have participated in the Jalinan Kasih #Jombaikirumah program in three villages in Jenderam Hilir here.
The program was officiated by Deputy Director-General (Strategic Planning) Prime Minister's Department of Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU), Zolkopli Dahalan.
In his speech at Kampung Aminuddin Jenderam Hilir Dengkel yesterday, he said the program was capable of enhancing the spirit of close cooperation, to know and nurture relations between ICU members and local communities.
He said this gotong royong program had long been practised by the Malaysian community in solving a problem of mutual interest.
Zolkopli said the government's decision to provide home-based provision for mutual cooperation was timely to improve the welfare of the less fortunate as well as to instil the spirit of belonging and create high teamwork spirit.
“In the context of gotong royong, this program has been set not only to help the needy but also as a platform to enhance the spirit of cooperation and unity among the people,” he said.
Through such activities, he said, ICU JPM volunteers could contribute to the community as well as to the nation.
He added that these efforts needed to be continued and implemented in the course of their daily tasks.
Earlier, Jenderam Hilir JKKP chairman Zulkifli Wahab in his speech praised efforts made by ICU JPM volunteers for successfully repairing and repainting houses on mutual basis.
Also present were Dengkel assemblyman Shahrum Mohd Sarif, Selangor Federal Development Officer Datuk Rosli Ramli, Director of ICU Division and local community leaders.
