80 vol­un­teers re­pair houses in three vil­lages

DENGKEL (Se­lan­gor): A to­tal of 80 vol­un­teers from the Im­ple­men­ta­tion Co­or­di­na­tion Unit (ICU) of the Prime Min­is­ter's Depart­ment have par­tic­i­pated in the Jali­nan Kasih #Jom­baikirumah pro­gram in three vil­lages in Jen­deram Hilir here.

The pro­gram was of­fi­ci­ated by Deputy Di­rec­tor-Gen­eral (Strate­gic Plan­ning) Prime Min­is­ter's Depart­ment of Im­ple­men­ta­tion Co­or­di­na­tion Unit (ICU), Zolko­pli Da­ha­lan.

In his speech at Kam­pung Amin­ud­din Jen­deram Hilir Dengkel yes­ter­day, he said the pro­gram was ca­pa­ble of en­hanc­ing the spirit of close co­op­er­a­tion, to know and nur­ture re­la­tions be­tween ICU mem­bers and lo­cal com­mu­ni­ties.

He said this go­tong roy­ong pro­gram had long been prac­tised by the Malaysian com­mu­nity in solv­ing a prob­lem of mu­tual in­ter­est.

Zolko­pli said the gov­ern­ment's de­ci­sion to pro­vide home-based pro­vi­sion for mu­tual co­op­er­a­tion was timely to im­prove the wel­fare of the less for­tu­nate as well as to in­stil the spirit of be­long­ing and cre­ate high team­work spirit.

“In the con­text of go­tong roy­ong, this pro­gram has been set not only to help the needy but also as a plat­form to en­hance the spirit of co­op­er­a­tion and unity among the peo­ple,” he said.

Through such ac­tiv­i­ties, he said, ICU JPM vol­un­teers could con­trib­ute to the com­mu­nity as well as to the na­tion.

He added that these ef­forts needed to be con­tin­ued and im­ple­mented in the course of their daily tasks.

Ear­lier, Jen­deram Hilir JKKP chair­man Zulk­i­fli Wa­hab in his speech praised ef­forts made by ICU JPM vol­un­teers for suc­cess­fully re­pair­ing and re­paint­ing houses on mu­tual ba­sis.

Also present were Dengkel assem­bly­man Shahrum Mohd Sarif, Se­lan­gor Fed­eral De­vel­op­ment Of­fi­cer Datuk Rosli Ramli, Di­rec­tor of ICU Divi­sion and lo­cal com­mu­nity lead­ers.
