Finance Ministry officers, staff sign corruption-free pledge
KOTA KINABALU: Officers and staff of the Ministry of Finance took and signed the corruption-free pledge before the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Sabah deputy director Zulkefle bin Abdul Hamid at the Ministry of Finance office in Likas, yesterday.
The taking and signing of the pledge was led by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Datuk Pengiran Hassanel bin Pg Haji Mohd Tahir.
Speaking at the event, Hassanel said amongst others, the objective of the event were to strengthen the commitment of the officers and staff in order to eradicate corruption in the ministry, to make sure none of them was involved in the menace, to instill hatred towards corruption and to deliver a message to anyone dealing with the ministry to refrain from any form of corruption.
He added that the pledge was also a reminder to the ministry’s officers and staff not to indulge in any acts of corruption and abuse of power.
“We should always practise integrity at the highest level,” he said, adding integrity and corruption-free culture must always form the basis of our lives.
Hassanel also said that they should intensify their efforts in upholding honesty, sincerity, commitment and desire to serve the people and the government free from any element of corruption.
