Fi­nance Min­istry of­fi­cers, staff sign cor­rup­tion-free pledge

KOTA KINABALU: Of­fi­cers and staff of the Min­istry of Fi­nance took and signed the cor­rup­tion-free pledge be­fore the Malaysian Anti-Cor­rup­tion Com­mis­sion (MACC) Sabah deputy di­rec­tor Zulke­fle bin Ab­dul Hamid at the Min­istry of Fi­nance of­fice in Likas, yes­ter­day.

The tak­ing and sign­ing of the pledge was led by the min­istry’s per­ma­nent sec­re­tary, Datuk Pen­gi­ran Has­sanel bin Pg Haji Mohd Tahir.

Speak­ing at the event, Has­sanel said amongst oth­ers, the ob­jec­tive of the event were to strengthen the com­mit­ment of the of­fi­cers and staff in order to erad­i­cate cor­rup­tion in the min­istry, to make sure none of them was in­volved in the men­ace, to in­still ha­tred to­wards cor­rup­tion and to de­liver a mes­sage to any­one deal­ing with the min­istry to re­frain from any form of cor­rup­tion.

He added that the pledge was also a re­minder to the min­istry’s of­fi­cers and staff not to in­dulge in any acts of cor­rup­tion and abuse of power.

“We should al­ways prac­tise in­tegrity at the high­est level,” he said, adding in­tegrity and cor­rup­tion-free cul­ture must al­ways form the ba­sis of our lives.

Has­sanel also said that they should in­ten­sify their ef­forts in up­hold­ing hon­esty, sin­cer­ity, com­mit­ment and de­sire to serve the peo­ple and the gov­ern­ment free from any el­e­ment of cor­rup­tion.
