Award from Sultan is ultimate recognition for Perak team
KUALA KANGSAR:Perak head coach Mehmet Durakovic has described the award he received from the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah as the biggest recognition for ‘The Bos Gaurus'.
Besides Durakovic, who was conferred the Darjah Ahli Mahkota Perak (AMP) award, the 28 other team officials and players were also awarded the Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK) for lifting the Malaysia Cup by beating Terengganu in the final on Oct 27.
He said he was honoured to win the award, which was the culmination of the team's efforts in ending their 18-year wait for the Cup.
“I am very happy and I wish to thank the Sultan of Perak for giving me the award. It's an honour indeed,” he told reporters after attending the investiture ceremony in conjunction with Sultan Nazrin's 62nd birthday celebration at Istana Iskandariah yesterday.
Durakovic also believed that the signing of former Terengganu FC striker J. Partiban, 26, would help strengthen the team for the challenges next season.
The former Perak player, who moved to Terengganu four years ago, signed a one-year contract with The Bos Gaurus on Thursday. - Bernama
