Award from Sul­tan is ul­ti­mate recog­ni­tion for Perak team

KUALA KANGSAR:Perak head coach Mehmet Du­rakovic has de­scribed the award he re­ceived from the Sul­tan of Perak, Sul­tan Nazrin Shah as the big­gest recog­ni­tion for ‘The Bos Gau­rus'.

Be­sides Du­rakovic, who was con­ferred the Dar­jah Ahli Mahkota Perak (AMP) award, the 28 other team of­fi­cials and play­ers were also awarded the Pin­gat Jasa Ke­bak­tian (PJK) for lift­ing the Malaysia Cup by beat­ing Tereng­ganu in the fi­nal on Oct 27.

He said he was hon­oured to win the award, which was the cul­mi­na­tion of the team's ef­forts in end­ing their 18-year wait for the Cup.

“I am very happy and I wish to thank the Sul­tan of Perak for giv­ing me the award. It's an hon­our in­deed,” he told re­porters af­ter at­tend­ing the in­vesti­ture cer­e­mony in con­junc­tion with Sul­tan Nazrin's 62nd birth­day cel­e­bra­tion at Is­tana Iskan­dariah yes­ter­day.

Du­rakovic also be­lieved that the sign­ing of for­mer Tereng­ganu FC striker J. Part­iban, 26, would help strengthen the team for the chal­lenges next sea­son.

The for­mer Perak player, who moved to Tereng­ganu four years ago, signed a one-year con­tract with The Bos Gau­rus on Thurs­day. - Ber­nama
