Penang motorcycle, car fire classified under ‘fire report’ for now

GEORGE TOWN: Fire and rescue and forensic experts are investigating the cause of the fire at a parking lot here early yesterday, which destroyed 36 motorcycles and six cars.

Penang police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi said for the moment, the case had been classified as a fire report.

“If elements of crime are found, the case will be investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code,” he told reporters here yesterday.

The incident happened at 2am on the second floor of a condominium at Jalan Mount Erskine.

Abdul Rahim said police received 26 reports on the incident. — Bernama
