Three men charged with drug traf­fick­ing

KUCHING: Three men were jointly charged at the mag­is­trates’ court here yes­ter­day for traf­fick­ing in metham­phetamine early this month.

Phua Poy Chew, 46, Fong Tham Fook, 31, and Chew Chiau Ham, 29, are fac­ing a charge un­der Sec­tion 39B of the Dan­ger­ous Drugs Act 1952, which car­ries the manda­tory death sen­tence upon con­vic­tion.

No plea was recorded.

Mag­is­trate Zul­hairil Su­laiman fixed March 15 for men­tion, pend­ing the chemist’s re­port.

They were al­leged to have com­mit­ted the of­fence in­volv­ing 855g of metham­phetamine and 2,780g of liq­uid metham­phetamine at a house at Lorong Stampin here at about 11pm on Feb 1.

All of them were fur­ther re­manded in prison pend­ing the chemist’s re­port.
