“The waters seemed to have risen a little so the evacuation centres are ready though not open yet.”

This measure, Rohani elaborated, was part of standard procedure so relevant agencies can respond quickly to emergencies instead of being caught by surprise by fast rising waters.

The District Officers, she reminded, play a role in instructing residents to evacuate when the situation endangers lives.

“The evacuation centres are equipped with forward base where food supplies stored can last for three days.

“The operation rooms are gathering all information on the flood situation,” she said.

The public can get and check the latest information on the flood situation as well as locate evacuation centres through InfoBanjir mobile apps.
