School launches pro­gramme to en­cour­age read­ing among stu­dents

KUCHING: SMK Se­merah Padi in Pe­tra Jaya here launched its ‘ Nadi Ilmu Amalan Mem­baca’ ( Nilam) 2017 pro­gramme aimed at pro­mot­ing a read­ing cul­ture among stu­dents.

Apart from in­cul­cat­ing the habit of read­ing among stu­dents, the pro­gramme also of­fers in­cen­tives to stu­dents who read the most books.

Present to launch the pro­gramme at the school yes­ter­day was state De­wan Ba­hasa Pus­taka ( DBP) act­ing deputy di­rec­tor Dr Shantrol Ab­dul­lah.

Un­der the pro­gramme, stu­dents are re­quired to record in­for­ma­tion about the au­thor, title of the book, num­ber of pages, pub­lisher and a syn­op­sis of the books read.

Also present at the event yes­ter­day was school prin­ci­pal Ha­diah Amit.
