SK Kpg Jepak in 5th place in national action song contest

BINTULU: SK Kampung Jepak won fifth place at the national-level Pintar Action Song programme for 2017 held at Rumah Puspanita, Jalan Hose in Kuala Lumpur recently.

The team was represente­d by 15 Year 3 pupils who were selected to form the best group.

Teacher-in- charge Elsie Elfira Paka said this was their first time competing at the nationalle­vel event which saw 20 schools participat­ing.

“These schools were chosen to enter the final after they submitted their respective action song videos.

“Initially, 73 schools nationwide submitting their respective videos for screening and we are proud to be one of the selected schools,” she said yesterday.

“This programme is a platform to help improve students’ command of English.

“It provides a catalyst for students to start using and learning the English language in a fun yet effective manner.”

She added that securing fifth place in the programme was seen as a positive result for the school and she was proud of her students’ performanc­e and confidence and of them being able to compete at the national level.

“They delivered an energetic performanc­e after training for six months,” Elsie said.

During the programme, SK Kampung Jepak was also awarded the Best Teachers Award.

Each of the pupils also received goodie bags from Tesco.

While in Kuala Lumpur, the pupils were also accompanie­d by two other teachers, namely Anis Ameera Roslan and Stephen Medan.

They safely arrived at Bintulu airport on Sunday evening.

SK Senawang, Negeri Sembilan emerged as champion while second to fourth place went to SK Kompleks Sultan Abu Bakar, Johor; SK Jenderam, Selangor; and SK Cherana Puteh, Malacca respective­ly.

The programme was organised by Pintar Foundation.
