MIRI: The Beachcomber bar and restaurant as well as children’s playground at Piasau Boat Club ( PBC) are now open to members of the public.

PBC, which is located at Piasau Nature Park, is the perfect venue for outdoor activities, social gatherings and even wedding celebrations with its beautiful setting and location facing the South China Sea. According to PBC Powerboat member Landale Crawfield, the public can patronise the restaurant, bar, playground and beach every day except on Mondays and Fridays – which are reserved for members only.

“It is a fun and safe place for the young and old to gather and relax or get active in sports for members while the public can patronise the beach, children’s playground, restaurant and bar,” Landale told The Borneo Post yesterday.

Landale said the club committee has decided to open these facilities to the public since March 15 to generate more income for the club and also to fulfi l the request from the local community for access to the said facilities.

The Beachcomber restaurant and pub has a wide selection of dishes for lunch and dinner, besides being a regular venue for hosting wedding celebrations and even social gatherings.

Meanwhile, PBC facility manager Usat Bilong said one of the houses at the club has been designated for use as a meeting, conference and workshop venue.

Usat said by opening the club to the public, Mirians would have another landmark for healthy outdoor activities and also choice of wholesome halal food to enjoy.

“The restaurant, bar and the children’s playground look very much like a Malaysian club with a halal kitchen,” he said, adding that the restaurant also offers catering services.

Adding on, Usat disclosed that PBS has currently over 450 members and most of them are working in oil and gas companies.

PBC members get to enjoy facilities like the gym, squash and tennis courts, climbing wall as well as activities like sailing, diving, windsurfing, yoga, karate, fishing and catching shrimp.

The membership fee is RM121.90 monthly plus a one- off deposit of RM1,000 which is refundable after being a member for six months. For more information, the public can call PBC at 085- 640063/640090 or email pbcmiri@ piasauboatclub.com or visit at http://piasauboatclub.com.
