Two dead in suspected hit-and-run, driver sought
MIRI: Police are looking for the driver of a single cab Toyota Hilux believed to have fled the scene after ramming a motorcyclist in Batu Niah here at midnight yesterday.
Both the rider and pillion rider were killed in the around 12.15am accident.
The motorcycle was said to be heading to Ngu Junction from Batu Niah bazaar when rammed from behind by the Hilux at a junction in front of Rumah Tinggang Mawar, Batu Niah.
The bike’s rider believed to be Indonesian died at the scene while his pillion passenger, also an Indonesian, died while being sent by ambulance to Miri Hospital.
The impact badly damaged the back tyre of the bike while the Hilux was damaged at the front.
The driver of the Hilux was believed to have fled - leaving his vehicle at the scene.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
