‘Ops Sarang’ nets 4 for al­leged drug abuse

KUCHING: Nar­cotics po­lice ar­rested four men for al­leged in­volve­ment in drug abuse un­der ‘Ops Sarang’ on Fri­day.

The sus­pects aged 23, 30, 31 and 32 were rounded up at the Botan­i­cal Gar­den near Wisma Bapa here fol­low­ing a tip-off from the pub­lic.

Dis­trict po­lice chief ACP Abang Ah­mad Abang Juali said po­lice found a bag fol­low­ing a body in­spec­tion of one of the sus­pects.

“The bag con­tains 27 trans­par­ent pack­ets (each filled with 16 pills be­lieved to be Nospan) and an­other 16 trans­par­ent pack­ets (each con­tain­ing eight pills also be­lieved to be Nospan). Po­lice also seized cash amount­ing to RM292.

A to­tal of 560 pills were seized with a street value of RM350.

“Ini­tial in­ves­ti­ga­tion re­vealed that the sus­pects were sell­ing the pills at RM10 for 16 pills and RM5 for eight pills.

The case is be­ing in­ves­ti­gated un­der Section 30 of the Poi­son Act 1952 and Section 15(1) of the Dan­ger­ous Drugs Act 1952.

The drugs seized by po­lice fol­low­ing a raid at the Botan­i­cal Gar­den near here on Fri­day.
