‘Ops Sarang’ nets 4 for alleged drug abuse
KUCHING: Narcotics police arrested four men for alleged involvement in drug abuse under ‘Ops Sarang’ on Friday.
The suspects aged 23, 30, 31 and 32 were rounded up at the Botanical Garden near Wisma Bapa here following a tip-off from the public.
District police chief ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Juali said police found a bag following a body inspection of one of the suspects.
“The bag contains 27 transparent packets (each filled with 16 pills believed to be Nospan) and another 16 transparent packets (each containing eight pills also believed to be Nospan). Police also seized cash amounting to RM292.
A total of 560 pills were seized with a street value of RM350.
“Initial investigation revealed that the suspects were selling the pills at RM10 for 16 pills and RM5 for eight pills.
The case is being investigated under Section 30 of the Poison Act 1952 and Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
