Limbang District police chief Supt Mohd Bukhori Saffai said the victim claimed he was offered RM7,000 in prize money via a WhatsApp message.

“The victim was told to pay RM1,260 as criteria to get the prize money and he deposited the amount in three instalments into the suspect’s account. On an unrelated case, Mohd Bukhori said a woman and a man were arrested at two different locations for abusing banned drugs during Ops Tapis. The woman, 26, was detained at a house in Kampung Pahlawan. She later tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine use.

“The other suspect, a trader, 57, who was also positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, was picked up at a retail shop in Pandaruan Road.

“Police also found a straw tube containing syabu weighing 0.38 grams, valued at RM50, kept in a drawer of a wooden table of the shop,” added Mohd Bukhori.
