SK St Joseph of Miri gets grant to im­prove school fa­cil­i­ties

MIRI: SK St Joseph of Miri yes­ter­day re­ceived govern­ment grants for the mi­nor im­prove­ment of school fa­cil­i­ties.

As­sis­tant Min­is­ter of Tourism, Arts and Cul­ture Datuk Lee Kim Shin pre­sented the Mi­nor Ru­ral Project ( MRP) al­lo­ca­tion of RM35,000 to the school that would be used for mi­nor re­pairs of its can­teen.

“Some of the funds would be chan­nelled to the school’s Par­ent-Teacher As­so­ci­a­tion (PTA) for its ac­tiv­i­ties,” said Lee who is also Se­nadin assem­bly­man af­ter pre­sent­ing the grant to the school at its premises.

He was con­cerned about over­crowd­ing at the school can­teen from the in­creas­ing num­ber of pupils, so sug­gested the school man­age­ment put up a pro­posal to ex­tend the can­teen.

Lee wel­comed the school PTA’s sug­ges­tion to or­gan­ise an event to raise funds for up­grad­ing the school car park by erect­ing a roof over it.

Also present were the school’s head­mistress Mariam Me­nadu Grasi and PTA chair­man Goh Ser Seng.
