SK St Joseph of Miri gets grant to improve school facilities
MIRI: SK St Joseph of Miri yesterday received government grants for the minor improvement of school facilities.
Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin presented the Minor Rural Project ( MRP) allocation of RM35,000 to the school that would be used for minor repairs of its canteen.
“Some of the funds would be channelled to the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) for its activities,” said Lee who is also Senadin assemblyman after presenting the grant to the school at its premises.
He was concerned about overcrowding at the school canteen from the increasing number of pupils, so suggested the school management put up a proposal to extend the canteen.
Lee welcomed the school PTA’s suggestion to organise an event to raise funds for upgrading the school car park by erecting a roof over it.
Also present were the school’s headmistress Mariam Menadu Grasi and PTA chairman Goh Ser Seng.
