Mas­ing: Sun­gai Tunoh Road to be built soon

KUCH­ING: The state gov­ern­ment will start im­ple­ment­ing the 40km Sun­gai Tunoh Road cost­ing RM690 mil­lion once the money is chan­nelled to the state, re­veals Deputy Chief Min­is­ter Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Mas­ing.

“That money is meant to build the road to the ( pro­posed) Baram HEP, but since the peo­ple of Baram re­jected the dam, I have asked that the RM690 mil­lion al­lo­ca­tion be di­verted to build the road to Sun­gai Tunoh, Baleh which is a sub­sidiary road from Baleh HEP Dam ac­cess road,” Mas­ing said after a meet­ing with min­is­ter in-charge of Eco­nomic

The pro­posed Sg Tunoh road will link Kapit to the fer­tile Sg Tunoh area in Mukit Mabong District which has been iden­ti­fied as a new food bas­ket in Sarawak for the cul­ti­va­tion of var­i­ous crops such as oil palms, veg­eta­bles and rice.

Ac­com­pa­ny­ing Mas­ing dur­ing the visit were Deputy Min­is­ter of Ru­ral and Re­gional De­vel­op­ment Datuk Alexan­der Nanta Linggi, Hulu Ra­jang MP Datuk Wil­son Ugak Kum­bong, Kanowit MP Datuk Aaron Da­gang and Pe­la­gus As­sem­bly­man Wil­son Nyabong Ijang.
