SIBU: Distrepark Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Amcorp Properties, received the Commendation Award during the Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association ( Sheda) annual dinner in Kuching recently.

The award was for developing the three- storey sprawling commercial development Sapphire East – a new commercial area in Sibu Jaya.

Distrepark director Mohd Fadzil Abdul Hamid said this was the third award Sibu Jaya has received since its inception, the first being for Planning Excellence and the second for Residential Development.

“Without the guidance of the government and the relevant authorities, the support of the business community and residents of Sibu Jaya and our consultants and contractors, Sibu Jaya would find it very challenging to achieve this degree of success and growth.

“With this third award for commercial development, I am confident it will inspire and spur our team to work even harder for Sibu Jaya’s exciting and vibrant growth,” he said.

Sapphire East offers intermediate units with a built-up size of almost 1,700 square feet per floor, double frontage design, and a sprawling pedestrian piazza.

Sibu Jaya has 6,000 homes and a population of around 30,000.

There are three schools in the township, with two additional schools expected to be built soon.

The soil erosion hitting Canada Hill poses risk to road users.
