Belinda Ting gets Most Caring Teacher award
SIBU: A total of 42 students of SM Catholic here received the MagnumCares Academic Motivation awards at the school yesterday.
A teacher of the school, Belinda Ting Bing Bing, won the MagnumCares Most Caring Teacher award for her dedication and care for the students.
Magnum’s senior marketing officer Cecilia Chai presented the awards, witnessed by the school’s principal Rev Brother Anthony Tay and Magnum’s Sibu representative Philip Tiong.
SM Catholic Sibu was one of 14 Chinese independent secondary schools in the state taking part in the programme.
Altogether 362 students from these 14 schools were awarded along with a teacher from each school getting the MagnumCares Most Caring Teacher Award.
MagnumCare Academic Motivation Award programme honoured 2,550 students from 60 participating Chinese independent schools in the country.
Magnum has set aside RM400,000 for the programme.
“The programme recognises achievements and hard work in the classroom while encouraging students to excel.
“It honours students who meet high standard of academic excellence and rewards students who have overcome tough obstacles in their learning.
“The programme was introduced in 1995,” said Magnum Group CSR head Beh Swan Swan.
She said Magnum also recognises teachers who had put in extra effort to help their students excel.
