Belinda Ting gets Most Car­ing Teacher award

SIBU: A to­tal of 42 stu­dents of SM Catholic here re­ceived the Mag­numCares Aca­demic Mo­ti­va­tion awards at the school yes­ter­day.

A teacher of the school, Belinda Ting Bing Bing, won the Mag­numCares Most Car­ing Teacher award for her ded­i­ca­tion and care for the stu­dents.

Mag­num’s se­nior mar­ket­ing of­fi­cer Ce­cilia Chai pre­sented the awards, wit­nessed by the school’s prin­ci­pal Rev Brother An­thony Tay and Mag­num’s Sibu rep­re­sen­ta­tive Philip Tiong.

SM Catholic Sibu was one of 14 Chi­nese in­de­pen­dent se­condary schools in the state tak­ing part in the pro­gramme.

Al­to­gether 362 stu­dents from these 14 schools were awarded along with a teacher from each school get­ting the Mag­numCares Most Car­ing Teacher Award.

Mag­numCare Aca­demic Mo­ti­va­tion Award pro­gramme hon­oured 2,550 stu­dents from 60 par­tic­i­pat­ing Chi­nese in­de­pen­dent schools in the coun­try.

Mag­num has set aside RM400,000 for the pro­gramme.

“The pro­gramme recog­nises achieve­ments and hard work in the class­room while en­cour­ag­ing stu­dents to ex­cel.

“It hon­ours stu­dents who meet high stan­dard of aca­demic ex­cel­lence and re­wards stu­dents who have over­come tough ob­sta­cles in their learn­ing.

“The pro­gramme was in­tro­duced in 1995,” said Mag­num Group CSR head Beh Swan Swan.

She said Mag­num also recog­nises teach­ers who had put in ex­tra ef­fort to help their stu­dents ex­cel.
