Li­ons clubs to go ru­ral with health pro­ject

KAPIT: The Li­ons Club of Kapit and Li­ons Club of Song will con­duct a ru­ral health pro­ject on Satur­day.

It will be held from 9am to 1pm at the SK Ran­tau Pan­jai mul­ti­pur­pose hall in Sun­gai Sut, ulu Baleh.

Or­gan­is­ing chair­man An­thony Jalin Mang­gie said the ‘Go Ru­ral Health Aware­ness Cam­paign’ pro­gramme will in­clude health talks and ba­sic health screen­ing such as body mass in­dex, blood pres­sure, and blood glu­cose level.

There will also be a fire safety talk by the Fire and Res­cue Depart­ment.

“We have in­vited stu­dents and teach­ers of SK Ran­tau Pan­jai, and long­house folk from Rumah Undie, Rumah Nyawai, and Rumah Ngin­dang along Sun­gai Sut to at­tend the health ac­tiv­i­ties. Our aim is to cre­ate aware­ness of the im­por­tance of oral health to keep healthy,” he said.

The Li­ons clubs will also present fire ex­tin­guish­ers to the three long­houses.
