Cops nab 28 in crack­down on il­le­gal gam­bling ac­tiv­i­ties

KUCH­ING: Police ar­rested 28 in­di­vid­u­als in a state-wide crack­down on il­le­gal gam­bling ac­tiv­i­ties.

State CID chief SAC De­nis Leong Soon Kuai said a to­tal of 19 raids were car­ried out in 11 dis­tricts on May 16.

“Thir­teen of the raids were against il­le­gal lottery, which saw 17 per­sons ar­rested and RM2,401 seized along with mo­bile phones, print­ers, cal­cu­la­tors and sta­tionery items.

“The re­main­ing six raids were against on­line gam­ing in which 11 per­sons were ar­rested and mo­bile phones and RM2,446 seized,” he said in a state­ment yes­ter­day.

Leong said those ar­rested are aged be­tween 17 and 35 years, and will be in­ves­ti­gated un­der the Com­mon Gam­ing Houses Act 1953.

Res­cuers in the process of ex­tri­cat­ing Barn­abas’ body from the ve­hi­cle.
