Cops nab 28 in crackdown on illegal gambling activities
KUCHING: Police arrested 28 individuals in a state-wide crackdown on illegal gambling activities.
State CID chief SAC Denis Leong Soon Kuai said a total of 19 raids were carried out in 11 districts on May 16.
“Thirteen of the raids were against illegal lottery, which saw 17 persons arrested and RM2,401 seized along with mobile phones, printers, calculators and stationery items.
“The remaining six raids were against online gaming in which 11 persons were arrested and mobile phones and RM2,446 seized,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Leong said those arrested are aged between 17 and 35 years, and will be investigated under the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
