Man caught for drug abuse

LIM­BANG: A job­less man who has been in­volved in drug abuse for the past five years was detained on Wed­nes­day night at a house in Kam­pung Meri­tam here.

Lim­bang dis­trict po­lice chief Supt Mohd Bukhori Saf­fai said the sus­pect, 49, was detained at the liv­ing room of the house at 11pm.

“Upon a body search on the sus­pect, po­lice found him in pos­ses­sion of a trans­par­ent plas­tic bag with eight straw tubes con­tain­ing crys­talline sub­stance weigh­ing 1.66 grams be­lieved to be Syabu.

“The sus­pect tested pos­i­tive for metham­phetamine and am­phet­a­mine,” he told the me­dia yes­ter­day.

Mohd Bukhori added the sus­pect first started get­ting in­volved in il­le­gal drug ac­tiv­i­ties in Jan­uary 2013 and ob­tained the drugs from lo­cal dis­trib­u­tors in Lim­bang dis­trict.

The sus­pect is be­ing detained at the Lim­bang Cen­tral Po­lice Sta­tion un­der Sec­tion 12 ( 2) and Sec­tion 15 (1) (a) of the Dan­ger­ous Drugs Act 1952.
