Man caught for drug abuse

LIMBANG: A jobless man who has been involved in drug abuse for the past five years was detained on Wednesday night at a house in Kampung Meritam here.

Limbang district police chief Supt Mohd Bukhori Saffai said the suspect, 49, was detained at the living room of the house at 11pm.

“Upon a body search on the suspect, police found him in possession of a transparen­t plastic bag with eight straw tubes containing crystallin­e substance weighing 1.66 grams believed to be Syabu.

“The suspect tested positive for methamphet­amine and amphetamin­e,” he told the media yesterday.

Mohd Bukhori added the suspect first started getting involved in illegal drug activities in January 2013 and obtained the drugs from local distributo­rs in Limbang district.

The suspect is being detained at the Limbang Central Police Station under Section 12 ( 2) and Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
