Programme reaches out to the disabled and senior citizens

-

KAPIT: The Kapit Senior Citizens Welfare Organisation recently held its outreach programme to assist senior citizens and the disabled here.

Tapah Ata, a political secretary to the Chief Minister, praised the organisation for organising the programme.

“This is a very good programme. I am impressed with senior citizens in Kapit because you are energetic and proactive in organising this very meaningful activity with the noble objective to look after the needy senior citizens and to offer assistance, to bring warmth and care to those who were less fortunate in our society. Your good deeds deserve to be saluted for a job well done,” he said when officially closing the programme at Rumah Madang Jelaini, KM5 Jalan Bukit Goram.

“Who said senior citizens are not active? You have proven the critics wrong. Armed with desire and determination to help needy fellow senior citizens, you have done a good job.”

He pointed out that the government also recognises the important role played by senior citizens, as many have been appointed as community leaders.

Tapah said senior citizens are assets to the younger generation because of their knowledge and life experience.
