Ju­nior golfers stole the lime­light at the Ke­lab Golf Sarawak (KGS) Club Cham­pi­onships

KUCH­ING: Ju­nior golfers stole the lime­light at the Ke­lab Golf Sarawak (KGS) Club Cham­pi­onships yes­ter­day when Muham­mad Hadif Fathely and An­gel Hii grabbed the first day lead in Men’s and Ladies gross cat­e­gories re­spec­tively at KGS, Pe­tra Jaya.

Hadif fired a gross score of 76 strokes to lead de­fend­ing cham­pion Daniel Yeo Thian Chai by three strokes while two other ju­niors Bernard Yeo Chun How and Saxen Hii Shang Yao are tied with Daniel in sec­ond spot with sim­i­lar scores of 79.

Tied for third a stroke fur­ther are Lee Kah Ming, Helmi Hipni and Sukma golfer Aziel Teo Ken Yi.

The Ladies Club Cham­pi­onship saw de­fend­ing cham­pion An­gel Hii look­ing strongly poised to com­plete a hat-trick of wins as she shot a gross score of 79 to lead her near­est ri­val Eva Puyang Deng by nine strokes.

In third place on a 87 is Asha Nabeela Ab­dul Rah­man and two strokes fur­ther in fourth place is Lia Ra­jemah Shar­mainie.

Mean­while, Ber­nett Ling Soon Kiong re­turned the day’s gross score of 79 strokes to lead Sarawak Golf As­so­ci­a­tion pres­i­dent Hoan Kee Hock by one stroke in the KGS Se­nior Club Cham­pi­onship.

In third to fifth po­si­tions are Waili Abang (84), Yakop Jalel (84) and de­fend­ing cham­pion Ab­dul Aziz Sa­hari (86) re­spec­tively.
