Parents Consultative Association lauds staggered reopening of schools
KUCHING: The Malaysian Parents Consultative Association ( Mapim) Sarawak branch lauds the Ministry of Education’s decision to reopen schools in stages as it allows administrators and teachers to make the necessary preparations.
Its chairman Omar Immun hopes that the reopening of schools on June 15 as announced by Education Minister Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin will be smooth and everyone is ready for it.
“As classes sitting for public examinations have returned to school earlier, followed by preschools and kindergartens. We are confident that the same standard operating procedures (SOP) will be in place for the operations of other classes which will restart on July 15,” he said in a statement yesterday.
He noted that the ministry itself had informed that the process was implemented smoothly and received excellent cooperation from administrators and teachers, and parents.
“Although the Covid-19 pandemic is not over yet, we hope that the SOP will smoothen the schools’ reopening process, and that it be of priority among all to ensure the safety and health of the students.
“Parents and guardians are also reminded to always advise their school-going children to abide with the SOP and practise them both in and outside school,” he said.
For now, it is important for every student to take care and avoid getting infected, getting their school work done and going home safely, he added.
