Marc Newson lends his bold spirit to Louis Vuitton’s iconic rolling trunks.
Louis Vuitton and Marc Newson have joined hands to introduce the future of travel with a range of rolling trunks that boasts not only a glamorous new look, but also revolutionary features. After 18 months of rigorous development and design, the result is a lightweight and robust, yet stylish trunk with 15 per cent increase in internal volume – the cabin-sized trunk weighs a mere 3kg with a remarkable 37-litre capacity. The exciting innovations (all submitted for patents) featured on these trunks include a TSA-approved zip-pull lock system of ultra-slim aluminium integrated with a single zipper pull that reduces wear associated with double zip pulls. Second is an ultra-thin titanium layer bonded to the polypropylene composite shell that creates a remarkably lightweight, shock absorbent case. The final breakthrough is the placement of the anodised aluminium extendable cane from inside to the outside, adding both packing space and strength to the trunk.
The façade of the trunk is as impressive as its interiors, with the iconic Louis Vuitton Monogram canvas designed to be almost 50 per cent lighter. Ardent admirers of the French house’s historic trunks will be pleased with the similarly designed corners and handles covered in natural cowhide leather. These revolutionary trunks are also available in Monogram Eclipse, Damier Graphite, Taiga leather, natural cowhide leather and a rainbow of Epi leather hues that come in two cabin sizes of 50 (50 x 35 x 20 cm) and 55 (55 x 39 x 21 cm).
